The below scriptures give a summary of the two major occurrences to expect at the coming of the Lord Jesus; there are two categories of people:

 

"Therefore, a curse consumes the earth. Its people must pay the price for their sin. They are destroyed by fire, and only a few are left alive (remain)”.

Isaiah 24:6

Then we who are alive and remain will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we shall always be with the Lord.

1st Thessalonians 4:17
